Christmas Roundup - knitted hats and scarfs

So thanks to the frugalcrafter Lindsay I discovered the joys of knitting and loom knitting.  That's a general link to her blog. I was ill with one of those coughs that keep you up all night so I put my earbuds in and watched and listened to Lindsay. She was my Lemonade when I was handed lemons.

These are all loom hats and a 6ft scarf.  I have since completed a blue, yellow and white hat and scarf and a red and white scarf.

Also I' ve made 2 ruffle scarfs for my MIL which I forgot to photograph.

The red and white hat needs to be reworked on a smaller loom...but that's the learning curve!

Knitted Santa hats

Lindsay, the Frugal Crafter, has created a demon. I ended up buying 4 circle looms and a cart load of yarn. I intend to loom loads of Christmas presents. 

However I digress, we had some senior members of our dojo come back for a visit with their family so I had to make their little ones santa hats. The 3 yr old loved it and the 7 wk old didn't comment. LOL I'll take that! Oh and I had a request from someone who I was already making a hat/scarf set for too! I love it when a plan comes together.

So the background to this is that whilst re organizing my mother's garage I came across s 3 pairs of knitting needles that had been forgotten.  One had a practice set of stiches cast on but I really don't know whose work it is. So I was able to use the video to cast off that piece (in case it was something sentimental) and to start learning how to knit.  I have an aunt, mother-in-law and auntie-in-law who all know how to knit and have made some beautiful pieces. So I was thrilled to have a go The Frugal Crafter 

This is what I managed to do with the leftover yarn.

I started another bit to actually make something but I've pulled it apart as I didn't like how loose some of the stiches were compared to others.

So thank you Lindsay! I'm now able to add yarn to my craft supplies hoarding!!!!!

I'm planning on trying to make a scarf or two for my lot. We shall see how it goes. FWIW my DH is thrilled, which I find shocking, but I think it is because it is something his mum does.
