Yappy Barkday!

Giddy with excitement! I was drawn to win a High Hopes challenge a couple of weeks ago and then asked if I wanted to be a guest for a challenge.  YES! was my answer and here is my card.  The challenge is Blue, Brown, Cream/White.  OK, I have to admit to adding a bit of black in there, but it is only a little.

I added a bit of sparkle with Copic Spica Atyou pens. On the hats and bows/ribbons.  I have been having sparkle envy with everyone's Wink of Stella.  I think it is just enough especially as this is for a guy.

Ingredients
Card Size - 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Cardstock - Artist Loft: watercolor; Recollections: Kraft, Navy 65lb;
Stamps - High Hopes Stamps: Brutus, Scotty Dog, Odie Dog, party hat two, single present; Studio G: alphabet stamps;
Ink - Memento: Tuxedo Black, Nautical Blue, Danube Blue, Bahama Blue;
Color - Copics; Koi Watercolors; Spica Atyou;
Accessories - Polka Dots embossing folder; Dimensional tape; Eyelets; Twine.

You're snow n'ice

I made this card for the High Hopes Challenge Ice or Snow .  I knew I wanted to use this bear but it tested my abilities to make a slope and background. I accented the snow flakes with Stickles for a bit more pizzazz.  I think it works or at least I hope it does.  I based the coloring on my eldest's school colors so will probably send this to him at some point in the school year.

I thought of the blog title after I took the picture - I'll probably add that to the front somewhere because it fits before I send it off.

Ingredients

Cardstock - Artist Loft: Watercolor paper; Recollections: Kraft 65lb;
Stamps - High Hopes Stamps: Bearly Swooshin', Snow Background;

S.W.A.K.

Saw the prompt and just had to do this card!

Hot, sexy, glittering, RED lips.  Is there anything else to say (except that I don't know why my card is photographing warped! YIKES!)

I had an online conversation about "missing you" cards and the poster said they should be muted and I had disagreed.  Now, this for me would make a great missing you card in the right situation and it is bold and in your face, nothing muted or subtle about it.

Ingredients
Card size - 4.25 x 5.5 in
Cardstock - Recollections: Kraft;
Stamps - High Hopes Stamps: Kissy Lips;
Ink - Versamark
Accessories - Zing: Red glitter embossing powder; Dimensionals.

Once upon a time

Once upon a time there was a challenge at High Hopes blog to use a couple on your card... a couple of people or a couple of animal or one of each.  Well of course, I couldn't resist finally making this scene that I bought these stamps to make and just how cute are they sitting/standing there in their finery just waiting for your approval.

Guess I got my Copics withdrawal sorted out all on one card!

Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth
Stamps - High Hopes: Castle; Rock Wall; Fearless Knight; Sitting Princess
Ink - Memento: Tuxedo Black

Wild Party Animal!

Remember that zebra print block I made?  Any guesses for whom I made this birthday card?  LOL!  I hope I got it right.  I wanted a good amount of whimsy in this as the receipient is still pre-teen.  Sometimes animal print can look very vampish to me.  I hope I succeeded in getting the right tone.

 I don't know about you but I think they are having a wild time, dancing away at this birthday party!

And a close up of the sentiment to see that cute ribbon!

Ingredients
Card size 8.5 in x 5.5 in

Stamps - High Hopes Stamps: Party Cow, Single Present, Three Candle Cake, Party Hat Two, Party Pig, Party Donkey, Party Animal, Have a Happy Birthday;

Tilt - a Ho Ho Ho!

This card looks simple right... well let me tell you.... it took forever to make!

Now a single tilt probably wouldn't have taken so long but I needed these to line up and then I needed them to be bottom heavy to actually tilt so that required and extra weight on the bottom of each "Ho" to help it swing.

The "HO"'s are a Justrite alphabet that I stamped in versamark, embossed with zing glitter embossing powder.  They really do sparkle.  Like my Christmas Cod Card I stamped 3 hats on a sheet of red scrap and cut them out and applied liquid applique which I heated to puff up.  These were mounted together on a diecut green circle.

The front panel was run through my Grand Caliber twice to cover the card.  This type of situation is exactly what I bought it for - when I want to emboss the entire front of a card and the embossing is at 90degrees from the panel and needs a larger platform.  Luckily I didn't get rid of my cuttlebug.  I use it most for smaller things, however it is great to still have those plates to run my embossing folders through my Grand Caliber without messing about with shims.

Ingredients
Card Size - 8.5 in x 5.5 in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth, Bazzill
Stamps - Justrite Stampers, High Hopes Stamps (santa hat off a santa image)
Ink - Memento, Versamark
Accessories - Zing green glitter embossing powder, Liquid Applique, 9 pennies, Spellbinders circle dies.

just wanted to show off the texture and dimension on this card in this last picture.

Christmas Cod

Does anyone else have trouble making special cards for those in your life that you haven't seen in forever?  I guess you don't if you don't make them for specific people.  I know that I am out on a limb in that way because I try to make a card to someone's interest.  I can categorically say that this isn't Zoe's interest.  But I went with punny!  Zoe has a cracking sense of humour and I am hopeful she will like this card.  And yes, I know I have basically done a variation of this card as a Birthday Cod but that is why I got these stamps to do punny, fun cards.

So basically this is all stamping, copic coloring, airbrushing for the scene.  The cod I stamped on a scrap and colored him in then cut him out.  I then covered him all over in glitter glue. This serves two purposes, it makes him blingy AND scaley which is pretty much the ultimate in being the coolest fish ever on a card!  I printed out the speech bubble on my printer.  The santa hat is actually off a santa hat I have.  That was stamped directly on red card and liquid applique was applied and heated.

I hope she likes it.

Nom! Nom! Nom! Crunchy!

I made this card for my eldest to send to my youngest for his birthday.  He loves Dragons.  On top of that when discussing what our eldest may and may not need for university, I asked if he needed a trunk at which my youngest said - "Does he get an Owl and a wand too"?   Sometimes you really can't make these things up!  Thus I decided he needed a Dragon card from university.

I wanted a lot of texture for the background to imitate dragon scales and I wanted them irregular so handcut every row as randomly as possible.

The image and greeting were stamped on glossy paper and I colored the image in with Copics, adding texture and shading, and then tore around the image and greeting to keep it rustic. The mount for the image and greeting looked better being graphic like the image.

I originally went with putting the mounted image straight on the base and it didn't seem to portray the appropriate amount of fun and whimsy and I just wanted that power of that dragon fire to knock it off kilter, thus I tilted the image on the card.  I think it works and keeps it fun.

BTW the green cardstock as part of the mounting was a happy accident.  I just love the way it replicates the colors from the image, wish I could say I was a genius and planned it that way!

Ingredients
Card size - 8.5 x 5.5 inches
Card stock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth, Recollections, Wassau, Hammermill Color Laser Gloss Paper

Bouncing Baby Olive

I made this card for a baby shower to hold a gift card for Mamma and Baby.  My inspiration was the invitation and I nearly squee'd when Mamma noticed!  The invites were a pocket card with large rose outlines in olive greens and pinks for the colors and some polka dot accents with some pink pearls.  I played with those elements and came up with this.

I really wanted to use my Kangaroo with Joey stamp.  I love this stamp for Baby showers. I used my embossing folder for polka dots.

It was my first attempt at a pocket card.  I tried to take shortcuts and that didn't work so I really looked at the original and worked out where I needed to cut and put the adhesive.  If you look closely at the insert, you can see there is a pocket for the gift card.

Ingredients
Card size - 4.25in x 5.5in
Cardstock - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Smooth.
Stamps - High Hopes Stamps
Ink - Memento
Color - Copics
Accessories - Embossing folder - polka dots, Ribbon, Pearls.

Tiger Thanks

So it was that time of year where I had to make some very special thank you notes. These were for teachers that really went out of their way for my eldest student and helped him get into a top University.  The first one just happened to go to a teacher who was his soccer coach too.  I couldn't resist revisiting the spinner card with the soccer ball.

The second card I did with a background stamp I just bought because I liked it - I don't normally make those sort of purchases but at 50% off it just had to be done! LOL and the same tiger.  Lots of versamark and metallic purple embossing powder!

Ingredients
Card Size - 4.25 in x 5.5 in

Happy Bee day!

Happy Bee day! I made this card for a special young lady in our life.  She really does excel despite life's obstacles.  She isn't a "bee" fan - more of a wolf/tiger fan but I gave her a tiger card last year (exhausting my supplies) and I don't have any wolf images...

I just love how happy this little bee is.

I repeated the background paper at the bottom of the signature side and made a little slanted pocket for money/giftcard.

Ingredients
Card Size - 4.25 in x 5.5 in
Card Stock - Neenah Classic Crest, The Paper Source
Stamps - High Hopes Stamps
Ink - Memento Tuxedo Black
Color - Copics
Miscellaneous - Spellbinders Oval and Oval Scallops Nestabilities; Sakura Stardust Clear; "Dewdrops" Michael's.
